you encounter today, jay korff. list of problems throughout the area because of the bitter cold weather. they just wrapped up repairing this water main break. withing cold temperatures -- worked late into the night. >> i am not sure how it happened. this morning, no water. >> forget -- and the water just started flowing. >> this break was one of many in the region. there was a flood at baggage claim. passengers had to wait while crews cleaned out. >> i do not know where my bag is. they are making announcements. i am waiting.

>> bone chilling conditions impacted montgomery county schools. had weather-related problems. students kept on coats and hats because the school had no heat during a power outage. >> we are monitoring closely. we're working closely with the central office. >> the cold may have claimed a life. a homeless man was filled -- was found dead. the victim may have died from exposure. people who work in the area says he has been living there for several months. getting back to the issue here, local schools, most of the weather-related issues that occurred today are expected to be fixed by tomorrow. reporting live, jay korff, abc 7 news.

a in prince george's county warning for drivers during the cold snap. ,fter four cars were stolen this is the second time in a week criminals targeted cars (and unattended. unattended. >> prince george's county said that if you have a car like this, and only is it a bad idea to leave it running and abandon it, but illegal. you could be looking at a $70 fine. the bottom line is, you do not want your car stolen when it is not necessary. >> i hope to find in one piece. >> her husband started the car, then walked back inside to say goodbye. that is all the time it took for someone to steal the car. >> it was so fast.

the cold air is on its way out. you see recovery on the temperatures. a great time lapse. that is fairly solid. 21 and 32 on the board here for the high and low. well below the mark average wise. the previous record, eight. that was easily smashed. .he broken new record very cold air. as we talk temperatures, we are at 90 degrees in gaithersburg. 10 in manassas. 13 at quantico. looking at the temperature map here, a 24-hour temperature change, three degrees warmer than it was last night. we're inching the same direction. if he go to the west, it is a different pattern to look at.

that is impressive. 30 degrees warmer than it was last time. six degrees warmer in chicago. that is an indication of the airside as the polar retreats. all because of high pressure. you see where the cold air is right now. we will be on the backside of the western periphery of the high-pressure region. that will bring in warmer temperatures slowly but surely over the next few days. eventually moisture may be able to form by friday morning. cold air will be around here tomorrow. it will be chilly thursday, the back to average temperatures. the warmer air will come around the backside. moisture will come through late thursday night. ordinarily, no concern. the ground is so cold, since
